Aligning With Your Photographer
It is essential to have a connection with your photographer, both as a professional and as a person. If you know exactly the types of photos you’re looking for, that's great! If not, you can search Instagram or Pinterest for wedding hashtags at locations you're considering.
Once you find a photographer’s style that appeals to you, check out their website, social media pages and reviews. Then make an inquiry and schedule an interview through a video chat. (As you're scheduling these meetings, take special note and see if the photographer's communication style and response time match your expectations)
Ultimately, you want a photographer not only with talent, but who can put you at ease on the big day.
TIP: Remember, you'll be spending a LOT of time together (both planning and on your wedding day) so be sure to hire someone you actually enjoy spending time with!
If you choose a photographer that is willing to travel to your location of choice, make sure they have experience and actually ENJOY traveling. (hint, hint...I LOVE traveling!) Are they able to think on the fly and find solutions for you if things don’t go exactly as expected? (If you’ve traveled a lot, you know this can be a real possibility) Ideally, it's great if they have traveled or photographed in the location (or a similar one) before, because they will be able to provide some great insights and even avert some potential problems, making things much smoother and enjoyable for your special day!
How Much Does a Destination Wedding Photographer Cost?
The cost of a destination wedding photographer varies, but generally it includes the wedding photographer’s base cost, plus flights, a night or two of accommodations, meals, and transportation. You can ask for a price guide from your photographer on specific destination photography packages. To make it easy for my couples, I have created a multi-day wedding photo package customized for their unique day-it includes scouting for the best photo locations, day-before & day-after photos (perfect for rehearsal dinners, family brunches, intimate picnics or adventurous couple shoots) and of course full coverage of your entire wedding day!
