The French law only accepts civil marriage performed by a French civil authority in a town hall. However, you have to reside in France for at least 40 days before the marriage. Specific documentation also must be provided to legally marry. But while taking a 40+ day hiatus sounds amazing, it's not quite realistic for most.


For these reasons, many couples choose to have their civil ceremony in their home country to legally marry. A Paris elopement is the perfect way to symbolically celebrate your union and intimately enjoy the City of Love exactly the way you want to!
